Welcome to the top tier of UPYBA baseball. The Majors Division is where it all comes together—full competitive rules, real game situations, and the thrill of championship-caliber play. This is baseball the way it's meant to be played.
At this level, players master advanced concepts like stolen bases, lead-offs, dropped third strikes, and the infield fly rule. Our Majors program prepares athletes for the next step—whether that's travel ball, middle school, or high school baseball. This is where future stars are made.
Season Options
Two seasons of competitive baseball action
Spring Season
March - June
The main event! Full season of regular games leading to playoffs and the UPYBA Championship. Experience the excitement of post-season baseball with bracket play and championship games under the lights.
Games typically held weekday evenings and Saturdays. 6-inning regulation games with full competitive rules.
Fall Ball
August - October
Keep the momentum going! Fall season offers additional game experience in a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for refining skills, trying new positions, and staying sharp for next spring.
Great opportunity for players moving up from Minors to get acclimated to Majors-level play.
Rules & Expectations
Arm care is a priority. Our pitching limits protect developing arms:
- Minimum of 3 different pitchers per game
- Maximum 3 innings per game
- Maximum 4 innings on consecutive days
- Maximum 7 innings in any 7-day period
- One pitch = one inning for record-keeping
- No balk rule at Majors level
- 2 coach visits per pitcher per game (3rd visit = pitcher change)
This is where Majors gets exciting—full stealing is allowed!
- Stealing all bases (except first) is allowed
- 8-foot lead line at each base—runners cannot cross until the pitch is released
- When stealing home, batter must clear the box to avoid catcher interference
- Runners must slide at home when a play is being made—no collisions!
Real baseball rules for real competition:
- 6-inning regulation games (complete after 5 innings, or 4½ if home team leads)
- Drop third strike rule in effect
- Infield fly rule in effect
- 6-run limit per inning (8 max on home runs/ground-rule doubles; no limit in final inning)
- No new inning starts after 8:15 PM
- Lights available—no games called for darkness
We take sportsmanship seriously at all levels:
- Throwing equipment results in ejection and one-game suspension
- Coaches may hold players out for disciplinary reasons (opponent notified)
- Play hard, play fair, respect the game
Field Setup (Coach Resource)
Majors plays on a 50/70 field—50 feet from the mound to home plate, 70 feet between bases. This is the bridge between youth and regulation fields.
Home team coach responsibilities:
- Arrive early to assess and prep field conditions
- Drag field using the 3-wheeler (located in garage)
- Rake around home plate and mound (never drag over mound!)
- Set up bases (stored in garage, dig-out tool on golf cart)
- Line batter's boxes and foul lines
Away team handles cleanup after the last game:
- Return bases to garage and replace post inserts
- Rake base areas back into the base paths
- Replace mound and home plate covers
- Drag field for next game
Report any equipment or field issues immediately via text.
